New Brighton A.F.C. is a soccer club located in Christchurch, New Zealand. The club is officially known as the New Brighton Association Football Club. It was first started in 1924. After a break, the club was re-formed in 1959.

Starting in the Southern League
In 1968, the team joined the second division of the new Southern League. They played very well and won the league that year! This win helped them move up to the top division.
Chatham Cup Adventure
The next year, 1969, was special for the club. They reached the final of the Chatham Cup, which is a big knockout competition. They played against Eastern Suburbs AFC from Auckland but unfortunately lost the match.
Playing in the National League
In 1971, the team won the championship. This victory allowed them to join the New Zealand National Soccer League. They competed in this top league for six seasons.
During their time in the National League, they often finished in the lower half of the standings. Their best result was finishing third in 1974. In 1977, the team was relegated from the league.
New Clubrooms
In 1979, the team got new clubrooms on Bexley Road. These clubrooms are still where the club is located today.
