New Jasper, Ohio facts for kids
New Jasper is a small place in Greene County, Ohio. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
The Story of New Jasper
New Jasper has an interesting past. It first got a post office way back in 1847. This was a big deal because it helped people send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for many years, until 1905.
The community of New Jasper actually moved! In the 1870s, a railroad line was built through the area. Railroads were super important back then for travel and moving goods. Because of the new railroad, New Jasper shifted to its current spot to be closer to the tracks. This helped the community grow and connect with other places.
