New Mexico's 2nd congressional district is a special area in the state of New Mexico. People living in this district vote for one person to represent them in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. This person is called their "representative."
This district is very large! It's the fifth biggest congressional district in the entire United States. It's also the largest district that doesn't cover an entire state by itself.
Right now, the person representing this district is Yvette Herrell. She is a member of the Republican Party. She won her election in 2020, taking over from the previous representative, Xochitl Torres Small, who was a Democrat.
