About the Newport Titans
The Newport Titans were a rugby league club. Rugby league is a team sport played with an oval-shaped ball. Two teams try to score points by carrying, passing, or kicking the ball. The Titans were based in Newport, a city in Wales.
Team History and Achievements
The Newport Titans Rugby League Football Club started in 2004. They were one of the first teams in the new Rugby League Conference Welsh Division. The team found a home at Pill Harriers RFC. They also had a famous former player, Dai Watkins, as their President.
In their very first season, the Titans finished fourth in their league. They also reached the final of the Welsh Shield competition. The next year, in 2005, they won the Welsh Shield!
The Titans continued to play well. In 2007, they made it to the Welsh Grand Final. However, they lost that game to the Bridgend Blue Bulls. They won the Welsh Shield again in 2009, beating the Dinefwr Sharks in the final.
Changes in Location
In 2011, the team changed its name slightly. They dropped "Newport" from their name and became just "The Titans." They also moved their home ground to Machen RFC. The team played there for two seasons.
In 2013, the team moved back to Newport. They started using "Newport" in their name again. Their new home ground was at Newport Saracens RFC. In 2014, the Titans reached the Shield Final of the South Wales Conference. They played against Valley Cougars but lost the match. The Newport Titans stopped playing after the 2014 season.

Junior Teams
The Newport Titans also had junior teams. These younger teams played in the Welsh Conference Junior League. In 2014, there were plans to start a new team for players under 13 years old.
