Nia Faith Betty was born on October 6, 2001, in Canada. She is an activist and a fashion designer. Nia is also the co-founder of Révolutionnaire. This company includes a clothing line that celebrates diversity and a digital social network for young people who want to make a difference.

Nia grew up loving ballet and was a very talented dancer. When she was 14, she moved to the United States to train at the famous Joffrey Ballet School in New York City. She even appeared on Awesomeness TV's Joffrey Elite show. In 2017, Nia had a serious injury that made her stop dancing for a while. She had to stay on bed rest for several months.

While recovering, Nia started sketching ideas for a dancewear line. She wanted to create clothes for dancers of color. This idea came from her own experience as a Black ballerina. She often had to dye her dance clothes because they didn't match her skin tone. In 2014, Nia met the famous ballerina Misty Copeland. She learned that Misty also had to dye her dancewear because there weren't many options for different skin tones. This inspired Nia even more to create her own line.

In 2019, Nia started college at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Howard is a historically Black university. Just a few weeks later, at age 17, Nia launched Révolutionnaire. She started with branded T-shirts. Soon, she expanded it to include Canada's first dancewear and accessories in various skin tones for people of color.

Working with Roots Canada

In the summer of 2020, Nia partnered with a well-known Canadian brand called Roots. This partnership included two special collections released over eight months. The first collection launched on February 5, 2021. Nia's sister, Justice Faith Betty, was announced as a co-founder of Révolutionnaire that same week. The collection featured a T-shirt with the words "Dreams Fuel Revolutions." It sold out in less than 24 hours! The money raised from this collection went to Canada's Black Academy. This organization helps young Black talent across the country.

The second collection with Roots launched on October 19, 2021. It included a leather jacket, a leather bag, two unique T-shirts, and six co-branded hoodies and sweatpants. Around this time, Nia also launched an online platform to help young people get involved in social change.

Activism

Nia has always been involved in activism, which means working to bring about social change. She decided to make Révolutionnaire more focused on social justice. Nia and her sister, Justice Faith Betty, worked together to add a social justice part to Révolutionnaire. They created a social network especially for young activists.

The sisters brought together a team of over 30 young activists from North America. This team helped build a special online platform. On this platform, young people can learn about important causes. They can also connect with others who share similar interests. Most importantly, they can take action on different social issues. Since launching in June 2021, the social network has grown. It now has members from many countries, including Ghana, Uganda, Mexico, Turkey, Jordan, Canada, and the United States.
