Nicole Nieves (born October 6, 1989) is an amazing American sitting volleyball player. She plays for the United States women's national sitting volleyball team. Nicky, as she's often called, has won many important medals. These include gold medals at the Parapan American Games and the Summer Paralympics. She has also earned three medals at the World Para Volleyball Championships.

About Nicky Nieves
Nicole Nieves was born in New York City on October 6, 1989. She was born without a left hand. Nicky went to Queens College, City University of New York. There, she studied speech pathology, which is about helping people with speech problems.
Nicky's Volleyball Journey
Nicky Nieves started competing in the World Para Volleyball Championship in June 2014. In one exciting game against China, she and her teammate Kaleo Kanahele Maclay each scored 7 points. Team USA won that match! Her team earned a silver medal in that tournament, which was her first big win.
More World Championship Success
Nicky competed again at the World Championship in 2018. She helped her team win another silver medal that year. In 2022, she returned to the World Championship. This time, her team brought home a bronze medal.
Winning Gold at the Parapan American Games
Nicky has also been very successful at the Parapan American Games. She first represented the United States in 2015. Her team won a gold medal in Toronto. She played again in the 2019 Parapan American Games in Lima. Once more, her team won the gold medal!
Paralympic Achievements
Nicky Nieves represented the United States at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro. Her team played sitting volleyball and won a gold medal!
After an eight-year break, Nicky was chosen to play for Team USA again. This was for the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris. On July 10, 2024, she was named one of the flag bearers for Team USA. She shared this special honor with wheelchair basketball player Steve Serio at the opening ceremony.
