Nicolás Franco Bahamonde (born July 1, 1891 – died April 15, 1977) was a Spanish military officer and politician. He was the older brother of Francisco Franco, who was a very important leader in Spain.
Early Life and Career
Nicolás Franco was part of the Spanish Navy. He worked as an engineer in the navy. In 1935, he became the director of the Merchant Navy. This meant he was in charge of ships that carried goods and people for trade.
Role in Government
From 1936 to 1938, Nicolás Franco worked closely with his brother, Francisco Franco. He was the head of the General Secretariat of the Head of State. This was a key role in his brother's government, helping to manage important state affairs.
Diplomatic Work
Later, Nicolás Franco became an ambassador to Portugal. An ambassador is a country's official representative in another country. His job was to help keep good relations between Spain and Portugal. He was also a main person who helped create the Iberian Pact. This was an agreement between Spain and Portugal.
In 1942, he was promoted to a general in the naval engineering corps. This was a high rank in the military.

Nicolás Franco was married to María Isabel Pascual del Pobil y Ravello. They had a son named Nicolás Franco y Pascual de Pobil.
