Nicola Pierce is an Irish author who writes exciting books for children and young adults. She is also a ghostwriter, which means she sometimes helps others write their books without getting public credit for it.
About Nicola Pierce
Nicola Pierce was born in Tallaght, a town in Dublin, Ireland. Since 2011, she has lived and worked in Drogheda. She went to the Presentation Schools in Terenure and later studied at University College Dublin.
Most of Nicola's books are historical fiction. This means her stories are set in the past and include real historical events and people, but the characters and some parts of the story are made up. She has even been asked to write history books about some of the real events she features in her novels!
Her Amazing Books
Nicola's first novel, Spirit of the Titanic, was very popular. It was chosen for seven different 'One Book One Community' projects. These projects encourage everyone in a town or community to read the same book at the same time.
In 2014, her second novel, City of Fate, was recognized for an award. This book tells a story set during the Battle of Stalingrad, a very important event in World War Two.
After that, she wrote Behind the Walls, which is about the Siege of Derry in 1688–89. This was a famous time in Irish history when a city was surrounded and attacked.
Her 2017 novel, Kings of the Boyne, was also nominated for a children's book award. This book explores the Battle of the Boyne, another significant historical event in Ireland.
In 2019, Nicola released a non-fiction book called Titanic, True Stories of Her Passengers, Crew and Legacy. This book shares real stories about the famous ship, its passengers, and its crew.
Her fifth novel, Chasing Ghosts, An Arctic Adventure, came out in March 2020. This exciting story is about the true and difficult 1845 expedition led by John Franklin and Captain Francis Crozier to the Arctic.
