Nikhil Upreti (also spelled Nikhil Uprety) is a famous Nepali actor. He is also a film director, producer, and martial artist. Many people know him as one of the most popular actors in Nepali cinema.
Nikhil Upreti is especially known for his action movies. He also stars in social drama films. For a while, he was the highest-paid actor in the Nepali film industry. He is famous for doing his own stunts in movies. This makes him a very respected action star in Nepal.
Nikhil Upreti's Film Career
Nikhil Upreti started his acting journey in the year 2000. His first movie was an action thriller called Pinjada. In this film, he did something amazing. He jumped from a seven-story building in Kathmandu, Nepal. He did this without any safety gear or a stunt double! This daring act became a huge topic of discussion.
Since then, he has starred in many successful movies. Some of his most popular films include Shiva Shakti and Agnipath. Other big hits were Dhadkan, Papi Manche, and its sequel Papi Manchhe 2. He also starred in Abhimanyu, Hami Tin Bhai, Nikhil Dai, Savdhan, and Dag.
His movies Papi Manchhe and Hami Tin Bhai were record-breakers. They were the highest-grossing Nepali films at the time. For Hami Tin Bhai, Nikhil Upreti won the National Film Award for Best Actor.
After being away from films for about five or six years, he made a big return. In 2015, he starred in Bhairav. This movie became one of the highest-grossing Nepali films that year. In 2006, he also received a special honor called the Rastriya Nagarik Swarna Samman.
