His Music Journey
Niklas Sundin was one of the key members of Dark Tranquillity for a long time. He was one of only two members who stayed in their original role throughout most of the band's history. He also helped write some of the song lyrics for Dark Tranquillity's early and more recent albums.
He even helped another famous band, In Flames, with their lyrics. He wrote some lyrics for their album The Jester Race. For a few more albums, he translated In Flames' singer's lyrics from Swedish to English. This helped the singer learn English better. Even though he decided to leave Dark Tranquillity in 2016, the news was not shared until March 2020.
Art and Design Work
Besides music, Niklas Sundin is also a skilled graphic designer. He started a company called Cabin Fever Media. This company creates amazing artwork for many metal bands.
He recently released a book that shows off his own independent artwork and sketches. Niklas has designed album covers and layouts for many bands. Some of these bands include In Flames, Arch Enemy, Nightrage, and Sentenced. He also designed covers for his own bands.
Musical Instruments
Niklas uses several different guitars when he plays music. His main guitars include the Gibson Faded SG, a Gibson 1983 Flying V, and an Ibanez IC400. He also has a custom J. Nunis SC1 guitar.
For amplifiers, which make the guitar sound louder, he used to use Rocktron Chameleon pre-amplifiers. Later, he and another band member, Martin Henriksson, started using Peavey 5150 and Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier amplifiers. They also used Behringer V-AMP 2 processors. When they made the album We Are the Void, they used a Peavey 6505, an ENGL Powerball, and a Bugera amplifier in the studio. He also supports Mayones Guitars & Basses, a company that makes guitars.
