Niko De Vera's Football Journey
Starting in Youth Soccer
Niko started playing football in 2013 with the Portland Timbers youth team. He was only 15 years old when he first played professionally for their reserve team.
College and U23 Teams
From 2014 to 2017, Niko played college soccer at the University of Akron. He played in 60 matches, scoring one goal and helping with seven assists. He even helped his team reach the final four by scoring a winning penalty kick.
While in college, Niko also played for Portland Timbers U23s. This team was part of the Premier Development League.
Playing for New York Red Bulls
In January 2018, Niko was chosen by the New York Red Bulls in the MLS SuperDraft. He officially signed with them in March 2018.
He made his first professional appearance for New York Red Bulls II on March 17, 2018. His team won that game 2–1 against Toronto FC II.
Time with Portland Timbers 2
