About Noble Foods
Noble Foods is a major player in the food industry. They are known for supplying eggs to many homes and businesses. The company works hard to ensure its products are high quality.
How Noble Foods Started
Noble Foods was created in 2006. It began when two companies, Deans Foods and Stonegate, joined together. This joining of companies is called a merger.
However, after the merger, a group called the Competition Commission looked into it. This commission makes sure that companies compete fairly. They found that the merger might break UK rules about fair competition.
Because of this, Noble Foods had to sell off its Stonegate business. This action helped to make sure that the egg market remained fair for all companies.
Caring for Animals
Noble Foods has been working to improve how it cares for hens. In 2017 and 2018, animal welfare groups like The Humane League spoke to Noble Foods. They asked the company to stop using cages for hens that lay eggs for their "Big & Fresh" brand.
Also, Animal Equality shared videos showing how some hens were treated. These hens were part of Noble Foods' supply chain. A supply chain is the journey a product takes from the farm to your plate.
Soon after these discussions, in March 2018, Noble Foods made an important promise. They announced they would stop using cages for all their hens by 2025. This means all their eggs will come from cage-free hens.
Since 2019, Noble Foods has been recognized for its efforts. They have achieved a top ranking in the Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare. This shows their commitment to treating farm animals well.
