What is Nocilla?

Nocilla is a creamy spread that many people enjoy on toast, bread, or even straight from the jar! It's known for its rich chocolate and hazelnut flavor. The main ingredient in Nocilla is sugar, making it a sweet treat.

The Famous Nocilla Slogan

Nocilla has a very well-known slogan in Spanish. It goes: Leche, cacao, avellanas y azúcar... ¡¡No-ci-lla!! This translates to: "Milk, cocoa, hazelnuts and sugar... No-ci-lla!!" This slogan helps people remember what Nocilla is made of.

The Story of Nocilla

How Nocilla Began

Nocilla was created in the late 1960s by a company called Starlux. They were inspired by an Italian spread called Nutella. Starlux wanted to make a similar product for the Spanish market. One difference is that Nocilla has a bit less hazelnut paste than Nutella.

Nocilla's very first slogan was "¡Qué snack!" (What a snack!). To become popular, especially with young people, Nocilla did a lot of advertising. They sponsored sports camps and events for children. This helped Nocilla become the top brand in its category.

Changes in Ownership

Over the years, Nocilla has been owned by different companies. In 1997, the owners of Starlux sold the company to the Knorr group. Later, Knorr became part of a big international company called Unilever.

Five years later, in 2002, Unilever sold the Nocilla brand to Grupo Nutrexpa. Nutrexpa was already famous for making another popular Spanish product, Cola Cao. Under Nutrexpa's care, Nocilla started offering new flavors and other products, like sweet buns.

In 2014, Nutrexpa split into two new companies. Nocilla became part of one of these new companies, called Idilia Foods. Idilia Foods is the company that makes Nocilla today.
