Nocilla has a very well-known slogan in Spanish. It goes: Leche, cacao, avellanas y azúcar... ¡¡No-ci-lla!! This means: "Milk, cocoa, hazelnuts and sugar... No-ci-lla!!" It helps people remember the main ingredients that make Nocilla so good.
The Story of Nocilla
How Nocilla Started
Nocilla was created in Spain at the end of 1967. A company called Starlux wanted to make a spread like the Italian Nutella for the Spanish market. Nocilla was made with a little less hazelnut than Nutella. Its very first slogan was "¡Qué snack!", which means "What a snack!"
Becoming Popular
To become famous, Nocilla worked hard to reach young people. They sponsored sports camps and events for children. They also did a lot of advertising. This helped Nocilla become the most popular spread in Spain.
Changes in Ownership
Over the years, Nocilla has been owned by different companies.
- In 1997, Starlux sold Nocilla to the Knorr group.
- Later, Knorr became part of a big company called Unilever.
- In 2002, Unilever sold Nocilla to Grupo Nutrexpa. Nutrexpa was already famous for making Cola Cao, another popular Spanish product.
- Under Nutrexpa, Nocilla started making new flavors and other products, like buns with Nocilla inside.
- In 2014, Nutrexpa split into two new companies. Since 2015, Nocilla has been owned by Idilia Foods.
