Norah Lange (born October 23, 1905 – died August 5, 1972) was an important writer from Argentina. She was also part Norwegian. Norah was known for her unique writing style. She was a key figure in a group of artists and writers in Buenos Aires during the 1920s and 1930s. This group was called the avant-garde, which means they liked to try new and experimental ways of creating art and literature.

A Creative Life

Norah Lange was part of a famous group of writers and artists called the Florida group. This group included well-known people like Oliverio Girondo, who she later married in 1943. Another famous writer in the group was Jorge Luis Borges. He even wrote about Norah in his first book of prose.

Norah published her early works in magazines that supported a style called "ultraism." This was a new way of writing poetry that focused on using strong images and fewer words. Some of these magazines were Prisma, Proa, and Martín Fierro.

Her modern and fresh poetry inspired many other Argentine writers. These included Nydia Lamarque, Maria Elena Walsh, Maria Dhialma Tiberti, and Ines Malinow.

In 2018, her 1950 novel Personas en la sala was published in English. It was called People in the Room.

In 1958, SADE (the Argentine Society of Writers) gave her their Grand Prize of Honor. This was a very important award for her writing.
