North Dalrymple, 9th Earl of Stair facts for kids
North Hamilton Dalrymple was a Scottish nobleman who lived from 1776 to 1864. He became the 9th Earl of Stair, an important title in Scotland. His father was Sir John Dalrymple of Cousland, 4th Baronet, and his mother was Elizabeth Hamilton.
North Hamilton Dalrymple married twice during his life. His first marriage was to Margaret Penny on May 27, 1817. Later, he married Martha Willett Dalrymple on March 23, 1831. She was the daughter of Colonel George Dalrymple. He passed away on November 9, 1864.
Family Life
North Hamilton Dalrymple had two children. His daughter was Lady Agnes Dalrymple. His son, Sir John Hamilton Dalrymple, later became the 10th Earl of Stair. He was born on April 1, 1819, and lived until December 3, 1903.
