  • The Port of Portland has huge facilities in North Portland. This is where big ships bring in and send out cargo, like goods and products, helping trade for the whole region.

North Portland is connected to the industrial part of Northwest Portland by the amazing St. Johns Bridge.

  • This bridge is a type called a "suspension bridge." It's 2,067 ft (630.0 m) long!

History and Development

North Portland has an interesting history, especially from the time of World War II.

  • During World War II, a planned community called Vanport was built nearby. It was located between the city and the Columbia River.
