Tourism Northern Ireland, often called Tourism NI, is an important group that works with the Department for the Economy. Its main goal is to tell people about all the amazing places to visit in Northern Ireland. They want to encourage people living in Northern Ireland to explore their own country, and also invite visitors from the Republic of Ireland.
Tourism NI helps you find out about fun places to go, how to travel around, where to stay, and all sorts of attractions across Northern Ireland.
This organization started way back in 1948. Its job was confirmed again in 1992. In 2015, its name changed from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) to Tourism Northern Ireland. This change was part of a bigger review of how public groups work. As of March 31, 2018, Tourism NI had 143 people working for it.
Tourism Northern Ireland works closely with similar groups in the rest of the United Kingdom. It also partners with Fáilte Ireland, which is the tourism group in the Republic of Ireland. There's also a group called Tourism Ireland, created in 1999, which focuses on bringing tourists from other countries to the whole island of Ireland.
