Why a New Building Was Needed

Construction and Completion
Building the new tower was a big project. It started in 2014 and was finished in 2017. The total cost for this large building was around $450 million. The grand opening, which means the official day it started being used, was on August 21, 2017.
How Tall is the Northwestern Mutual Tower?
At 550 feet tall, the Northwestern Mutual Tower and Commons is one of the tallest buildings in Milwaukee. It is currently the second-tallest building in the city. This makes it a very noticeable part of the Milwaukee skyline.
Other Buildings in the Area
In October 2015, Northwestern Mutual also announced plans for another tall building nearby. This one was a 34-story residential tower called 7Seventy7. It includes apartments, shops, and parking. This building was completed in 2018.
