Nélida María Bacigalupo (born in 1924, died in 2019) was an important Argentinian scientist. She was a botanist, which means she studied plants. She also worked as a curator, helping to organize and care for plant collections, and was a professor, teaching others about botany.

Nélida went to the National University of La Plata in Argentina. She worked very hard and earned her doctorate degree in Natural Sciences in 1953. This is a very high level of education, showing she was an expert in her field.

She became a researcher at the Darwinion Institute of Botany, located in San Isidro, Buenos Aires. Nélida did a lot of her plant research in Paraguay and Argentina. She was known around the world as an expert on the plant family called Rubiaceae. This family includes many well-known plants like coffee and gardenias. She was also a member of the Argentine Botanical Society. In 2011, she was the honorary vice-president of the 33rd Argentine Botany Conference.
