Nāgadāsaka was a king in ancient India, known as the last ruler of the Haryanka dynasty. This powerful family ruled the kingdom of Magadha. He was the son of King Munda and reigned for about 24 years, from 437 BCE to 413 BCE.
Nāgadāsaka's Time as King
Nāgadāsaka became king after his father, Munda. He ruled the kingdom of Magadha for over two decades. During his time, the Haryanka dynasty had been in power for many years.
How Nāgadāsaka's Rule Ended
Eventually, the people of Magadha were not happy with Nāgadāsaka's rule. They decided to remove him from the throne. In his place, they chose a new leader named Shishunaga. Shishunaga was an important minister, also known as an amatya, under Nāgadāsaka. Shishunaga then went on to start a completely new royal family, called the Shishunaga dynasty. This change marked the end of the Haryanka dynasty and the beginning of a new era in Magadha's history.
