Nāpili facts for kids
Nāpili is a lovely district located in Lāhainā, on the beautiful Hawai'ian island of Maui. For official purposes, it's part of a larger area called Napili-Honokowai, which also includes the neighborhoods of Kahana and Honokowai.
Nāpili: Where is it?
Nāpili is found on the western side of the island of Maui. It's like a smaller town connected to Lāhainā, which is about 6 miles (around 10 kilometers) to the south. This area is quite dry compared to other parts of Maui. This is because it's on the "leeward" side of the mountains, meaning the mountains block most of the rain.
The landscape in Nāpili features rolling hills that stretch all the way to the coast. You'll notice that much of its coastline is made up of black volcanic rock, not sandy beaches.
Who Lives in Nāpili?
Nāpili is known as a community where many people work hard. The Hawaiian language is often spoken here, though most residents also speak English. Many people who live in Nāpili work in the popular resort towns of Kāʻanapali and Lāhainā, which are located to the south. Because of its unique coastline, Nāpili doesn't have as many large resorts as some other areas.
