O-ring facts for kids
O-rings are mechanical seals. They are usually a round loop of rubber, but may also be made of cork, metal, or other materials.
They are designed to be seated in a mechanical groove and compressed during assembly between two parts, sealing the interface.
O-rings are one of the most common and important pieces of hardware used in machine design.
