A Look at Oberstrass's Past
Long ago, Oberstrass was not part of Zürich. It was its own small town! But in 1893, it joined Zürich. This made Zürich bigger and stronger. Many towns joined Zürich around that time.
Getting Around: The Rigiblick Funicular
One of the most interesting things in Oberstrass is the Rigiblick funicular. A funicular is like a special train that goes up and down a steep hill. It's pulled by a cable.
The Rigiblick funicular is one of only two funiculars in all of Zürich. It helps people travel up and down the hills easily. It's a fun ride for visitors too!
Fun Things to Do: Theater Rigiblick
Oberstrass is also home to the Theater Rigiblick. This theater has a long history. It first opened in 1901. Back then, it was a restaurant called Rigiblick. People would go there to eat and enjoy the views.
Later, the Gastsaal (which means "guest hall") part of the restaurant was changed. In 1984, it became the Theater Rigiblick. Today, it's a place where you can watch plays, concerts, and other performances. It's a great spot for entertainment in the neighborhood.
