Odhise Kristo Grillo (1932–2003) was a famous Albanian writer. He is best known for writing many wonderful books for children.
His Life and Work
Odhise Grillo was born in 1932 in a place called Vuno. He went to elementary school there. Later, he moved to the capital city, Tirana, to finish middle school and high school.
In 1962, he graduated from the University of Tirana. He studied both language and law, which helped him a lot in his writing career.
Grillo started his career working at a humor magazine called Hosteni. After that, he became an editor at the Naim Frashëri Publishing House. His main job there was to work on books for children. He continued this important work until he retired. Even after retiring, he kept writing and editing for another publishing house called "Toena."
He wrote for many different magazines over the years. Some of these included Drita, Hosteni, and Pionieri. These magazines helped share his stories and ideas with many readers.
Odhise Grillo was also a very respected teacher. He taught at the University of Tirana and the Aleksandër Xhuvani University. He even became the president of the International Association of Children's Writers. This shows how important his work was in the world of children's literature.
He won many national awards for his writing in Albania. His books were also translated into several other languages. People in Greece, Italy, France, and other countries could read his stories.
In 2013, a book was written about Grillo by Milaim Nelaj. This book helped people learn even more about his life and his amazing contributions to literature.
Odhise Grillo passed away on September 24, 2003, in Tirana, Albania. He left behind a great collection of books that continue to inspire young readers.
