For her doctorate, she wrote a special research paper called a dissertation. Its title was about "Independence, domination, irredundance, and other parameters of graphs." Her work was guided by a professor named Jean-Claude Bermond.

Odile Zink-Favaron comes from a family of accomplished people. Her father was Georges Zink, a well-known poet and university professor. She also has two siblings, Michel Zink and Anne Zink.
