Oge Mora is a talented author and illustrator of children's books. She lives in Providence, Rhode Island. In 2019, she won several important awards for her book, Thank You, Omu!. These awards include a Caldecott Honor, the Coretta Scott King John Steptoe Award for New Talent, and the Ezra Jack Keats Book Award.
Oge Mora's parents moved to the United States from Nigeria. They settled in Columbus, Ohio. Oge later studied at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). This is a famous art and design school.

Becoming a Book Creator
How Thank You, Omu! Began
While at RISD, Oge Mora took a special class. It was called "Picture and Word." For her final project, she created a practice version of a picture book. She called it Omu's Stew.
Her teacher invited people who work in publishing to see the students' projects. These included editors and art directors. They loved Oge's book idea! A publisher named Little, Brown and Company decided to publish it. The book was then released as Thank You, Omu!.
Oge Mora's Art Style
Oge Mora creates her beautiful illustrations using different materials. She often uses cut paper, paint, and special china markers. This gives her artwork a unique and colorful look.
