A Place with a Long History
After the college closed, a new building was put up on the same land. This became the Cincinnati Sanitarium. It was the first private hospital for mental health care outside the East Coast in the U.S.
In 1956, the sanitarium changed its name. It became Emerson A. North Hospital. This hospital helped people for many years.
The hospital closed its doors in 1994. After that, a company called Phoenix International used the site. This company tested new medicines for other drug companies.
Phoenix International left in 2000. Then, the land became part of the Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Today, it is known as the College Hill Campus.
