Olaf Tyaransen was born in Dublin, Ireland. In 1977, when he was six years old, his family moved to Galway. He went to school at Coláiste Éinde in Galway.

He started writing when he was young. In 1988, he wrote film reviews for a local newspaper called the Galway Advertiser. He also helped edit another local paper called The Word.

Joining Hot Press Magazine

In 1991, Olaf began writing for Hot Press magazine in Dublin. This magazine is famous for covering music and culture. He became a contributing editor there.

Published Works

Olaf Tyaransen has also written several books. His first book was a collection of poems called The Consequences of Slaughtering Butterflies. It was published in 1992.
