History of the Courthouse
Building a New Courthouse
The courthouse was designed by a company called Daniell & Beutell from Atlanta. They used a style called "Stripped Classical." This style looks like old Greek and Roman buildings but without lots of fancy decorations.
The reason this courthouse was built was sad. An older courthouse, built in 1884, was completely destroyed by a very strong tornado in 1936. After the tornado, the government helped pay for the new courthouse to be built. This was part of an effort to help the community rebuild after the disaster.
Newer Courthouse Nearby
The Old Hall County Courthouse is no longer the main courthouse. A brand new courthouse was built right next to it between 2000 and 2002. This new building now handles most of the county's legal and government work.
