Old St Mark's Anglican Church is a special old building in Daisy Hill, Australia. It used to be a church and is now used as a church hall. It was built in 1901 by a builder named W Anthony. This building is so important that it was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on March 30, 2001. This means it is protected because of its history and value.

The Story of Old St Mark's Church
The land where Old St Mark's Church stands was given by the Gommersall family in 1880. They wanted it to be a burial ground for the community. Mr. and Mrs. Gommersall were the first people buried there in 1883.
Planning the Church Building
In 1900, local families decided they needed a church. They met in the school building to make plans. They agreed to build the church on the land already set aside for burials.
Later that year, they decided the church should be a simple wooden building. It was planned to be about 20 feet by 20 feet, with a small porch. It would be big enough for 24 people to worship.
Building and Dedicating the Church
Only one builder, W Anthony, offered to build the church. His price was accepted in January 1901. The church was finished and officially opened on April 21, 1901, by Bishop William Webber.
Over time, a small room called a vestry was added to the church. The inside walls and ceiling were also covered with wood.
The Cemetery and Early Settlers
The church is surrounded by a cemetery. Many of the people who helped plan and build the church are buried there. These include members of the first church council, like Thomas White and William Winnett. Other well-known local families, such as the Ushers and Murrays, are also buried in the cemetery.
Changes and Restoration
In 1977, St Mark's became its own separate church area. The community grew, and the old church became too small. So, a new, bigger church was built next to the original one.
The 1901 church was then changed to be used as a hall for the church and the community. In 2001, the church celebrated its 100th birthday. For this special event, the old church was restored. Its original furniture was brought back, and ramps were added to make it easier for everyone to enter.

Old St Mark's Anglican Church is a simple wooden building. It has a steep roof made of corrugated iron. The building sits low on concrete stumps and has painted wooden walls.
Outside the Church
At the front, there is a small porch with a simple design. A vestry, which is a small room, is attached to the back. The roof has wooden vents to let air in.
The original porch roof is still there, but the floor has been replaced. A new ramp has been built to help people with disabilities get inside easily.
Inside the Church
The inside walls of the main part of the church are covered with beautiful silky oak wood. The ceiling is also made of wood. The wood inside is not painted, showing its natural look.
All the wooden parts, like the doors and windows, are also made of silky oak. There are six tall, narrow windows, three on each side. Each window has a part that can open to let in air. The vestry room inside is not covered with wood and is not painted.
The Cemetery Layout
While the church faces the road, the graves in the cemetery face a different direction. They are lined up east to west, with the headstones facing up the hill. There are 32 marked graves and 20 unmarked graves in the cemetery.
