Olga Teresa Krzyżanowska (born September 10, 1929 – died June 22, 2018) was an important Polish politician. She served as a Senator and a Member of Parliament in Poland for many years. She was active in Polish politics from 1989 to 2005.
During World War II, Olga was part of a secret group called the Gray Ranks. This group helped fight for Poland's freedom. For her brave actions, she received the Cross of Valour. After the war, she became a doctor. She worked in hospitals and later led a special hospital in Gdańsk.

Early Life and Medical Career
Olga Krzyżanowska was born in Warsaw, Poland, on September 10, 1929. She grew up during a difficult time for her country. After World War II ended, she decided to study medicine.
Becoming a Doctor
Olga attended Gdańsk Medical University. She worked hard and graduated in 1952. Her studies focused on internal diseases and health problems related to work. She spent ten years working in hospitals, gaining valuable experience. In 1962, she became the head of the Provincial Industrial Hospital in Gdańsk. She stayed in this important role until 1989.
Joining the Solidarity Movement
In the 1980s, Olga Krzyżanowska joined the Solidarity movement. This was a large group of people in Poland who wanted more freedom and better lives. They worked to change the government.
From Doctor to Politician
Olga was part of Solidarity's National Health Commission. This work helped her get involved in politics. Her dedication to helping people led her to a new path.
A Career in Polish Politics
Olga Krzyżanowska became a member of the Contract Sejm in 1989. The Sejm is like Poland's parliament. She was even named the Deputy Marshal for that term. This meant she helped lead the Sejm. She found out about her nomination by watching television!
