Olle Ljungström's Music Career
Starting with Reeperbahn
Olle Ljungström began his journey in music as the singer and guitarist for a Swedish rock band called Reeperbahn. The band first included Dan Sundquist (who played bass), Eddie Sjöberg (guitar), and Peter Korhonen (drums). They released their very first album, which was also called Reeperbahn, in 1979.
On this first album, Reeperbahn used both Swedish and English words in their songs. But later, they decided to only sing in Swedish. The band released three more full-length albums: Venuspassagen in 1981, Peep-Show in 1983, and Intriger also in 1983. The group then broke up in 1984.
Working with Heinz and Young
After Reeperbahn, Olle Ljungström briefly formed a music group called Heinz & Young with Heinz Liljedahl. Heinz was from the band Ratata. This new group, Heinz & Young, released only one album in 1984. It was called Buzzbuzzboys... and all the songs were in English. The album featured songs written by both Olle and Heinz. They also released a single with two songs, "No Matter at All" and "California dreamin'".
Heinz Liljedahl also worked with Olle on his first six solo albums, which were released between 1993 and 2002.
Olle's Solo Music
In 1993, Olle Ljungström started his solo music career. His first album, which was self-titled, came out that year. He first signed with a music company called MNW and later with Metronome. When he performed by himself, Olle sang only in Swedish.
Olle also sometimes appeared on songs by other artists. For example, he contributed to the group Wilmer X's album Hallå Världen.
Olle Ljungström passed away in his home in Alingsås on May 4, 2016.
