Omari Akil Newton is a Canadian actor. He is well-known for his roles as Larry Summers in Blue Mountain State and Lucas Ingram in Continuum. Newton also helped start a company called Boldskool Productions.

Early Life and Education
Omari Newton grew up in Montreal, Canada. His parents moved there from Trinidad and Tobago. In the 1990s, he went to Beaconsfield High School with his twin sister.
At school, Omari was very active. He was the co-captain of the basketball team. He also played on the local football team. But he also loved acting and joined drama clubs.
To become a professional actor, Omari studied drama. He took courses at Concordia University, where he earned a degree in communication studies. He also trained at the National Theatre School of Canada.
Acting Career
When Omari was 19, he got a big break. He was hired by Black Theatre Workshop. He landed a main role in one of their plays. He worked in the Montreal theatre scene for several years.
Later, he moved to Vancouver. In Vancouver, Omari continued to perform in many plays. He appeared in Romeo & Juliet with Mad Duck Theatre Collective. He also acted in The Oresteia at Christ Church Cathedral.
First TV Roles
In 2001, Omari tried out for a role in a teenage vampire series. The show was called Vampire High. He got the part of Dalton Nemers right away. He later said he really enjoyed working on the show. He liked that his character was important to the story. This was his first big role on a TV series. Before this, he only had small parts in TV movies.
Popular TV Shows
From 2010 to 2011, Omari Newton played Larry Summers. This was in the show Blue Mountain State. This college comedy series was about a made-up university and its football team. Larry Summers was Omari's first regular role on a television series.
Then, from 2012 to 2015, Omari starred as Lucas Ingram. This role was in the show Continuum.
Boldskool Productions and Playwriting
In 2014, Omari Newton's play was directed by Diane Roberts. The play was called Sal Capone: The Lamentable Tragedy Of. It was put on by Urban Ink Productions.
Omari and Diane worked well together. This led them to create Boldskool Productions. It is a theatre company that focuses on hip hop theatre. In 2018, Boldskool Productions put on Sal Capone again.
Omari started writing Sal Capone in 2008. He wanted to use the play to talk about important social issues and real-life events. He has also been asked to write another play. This new play is called Black & Blue Matters. It will be a companion piece to Sal Capone.

Omari Newton has a twin sister. Her name is Akilah Newton.
