Omi Sato (佐藤 大実, Satō Ōmi, born December 22, 1975) is a former Japanese football (soccer) player. He was born in Shiwa, Iwate, Japan, and played as a forward during his career.
Playing Career
Omi Sato was born on December 22, 1975. He started his football journey in the youth team of Verdy Kawasaki. In 1994, he joined a club called Nippon Denso, which was playing in the Japanese Regional Leagues. These are lower-level football leagues in Japan.
His team, Nippon Denso (later known as Denso), moved up to the Japan Football League (JFL) in 1997. The JFL was a higher league at that time.
In 1998, Omi Sato joined Sagan Tosu, another JFL club. He played as both a forward and an attacking midfielder. Sagan Tosu was promoted to the new J2 League in 1999. The J2 League is one of Japan's top professional football leagues.
Omi Sato played many games for Sagan Tosu over several years. However, his playing time became less in 2005. In 2006, he moved to Grulla Morioka, a club from his home area, Iwate Prefecture. He played for Grulla Morioka for one season before he retired from professional football at the end of 2006.
