One-Two-GO Airlines Flight 269 facts for kids
One-Two-GO Airlines Flight 269 (also known as OG269) was a scheduled flight from Bangkok, Thailand, to Phuket, Thailand. On September 16, 2007, a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 airplane was trying to land at Phuket International Airport. Sadly, it crashed after the pilots tried to stop the landing. The plane hit a raised area of land next to runway 27 and caught fire around 3:45 PM. Out of 130 people on board, 89 tragically lost their lives.
After the accident, a two-year investigation was carried out by the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee of Thailand's Ministry of Transport. They looked into what caused the crash. The main reason for the accident was found to be an error by the flight crew.
