Opperman is a small place in Ohio, United States, that doesn't have its own local government. It's known as an unincorporated community. Opperman was also once a busy coal town because of the coal mines nearby. Its old post office is now closed.
Opperman's Past: A Coal Town Story
Opperman was started by Thomas Moore and his wife on August 28, 1903. The town grew quickly and was very lively when the coal mines were working.
Life in the Coal Town
When the mines were busy, Opperman had important buildings and services. There was a train station, shops, schools, and many homes for the people who lived and worked there.
What Happened to Opperman?
Over time, as the coal mines stopped operating, the town became less active. Today, most of the old buildings and the busy life that once filled Opperman have disappeared.
