The Order of Military Merit (which in Spanish is Orden del Mérito de Militar) is a special award. It is given to members of the Military of the Dominican Republic. This important award was created on November 15, 1930. It recognizes soldiers for their amazing service and bravery.

What Are the Divisions and Classes?
This award has three main parts, called divisions. Each division shows a different reason for the award. They are also shown by the color of the ribbon.
- Combat or War Service: This division is for soldiers who show great courage in battles or during wartime. The ribbon for this award is red.
- Long and Faithful Service: This division honors soldiers who have served for a very long time. It also recognizes their loyalty to the military. The ribbon for this award is blue.
- Other Services: This division is for other important actions or achievements. These might not be directly related to combat or long service. The ribbon for this award is white.
Award Classes for Ranks
Within each of these three divisions, there are four different classes. These classes depend on the rank of the person receiving the award.
