Exploring Orme Park: Your Green Space in Atlanta
Orme Park offers a peaceful escape for everyone. It's a popular place for families, friends, and individuals to enjoy the outdoors. You can find beautiful trees, open areas, and the calming sound of Clear Creek flowing nearby.
Park Improvements: What's New?
In 2011, Orme Park received a big makeover! This project cost about $203,000. Many groups helped make it happen, including "Friends of Orme Park," the Virginia-Highland Conservation League, the City of Atlanta, and a group called Park Pride.
Exciting Changes for Visitors
The park's renovation brought many cool new features. A new entrance plaza was built, along with a stairway. There are also gently sloping sidewalks now, which make it easier for everyone, including those using wheelchairs, to enter the park safely from Brookridge Drive.
The playground was moved to a new spot, and a strong granite seating wall was added. This is a great place to sit and rest. A new walkway was also built, connecting the two entrances on Brookridge Drive. Before, there was just a dirt path there.
Future Plans for the Park
More improvements were planned for 2012 with another grant from Park Pride. These plans included planting even more trees and creating a special rain garden. A rain garden helps collect rainwater and keeps the park healthy. More plants were added, and a new stone sign was put up to welcome visitors.
