Osvaldo was part of the Argentina Under-20 team. This team won the 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship in Japan. He played for many famous clubs in Argentina and other countries.

Osvaldo Escudero's Playing Career
Osvaldo Escudero, also known as "Pichi," started his football journey in 1978. He was just 17 years old when he first played for Chacarita Juniors in Argentina. This was the beginning of his 16-year career as a professional player.
Becoming a Youth World Champion
Pichi's great performance with Chacarita Juniors helped him get called up to the national team. He joined the Argentina national under-20 football team for the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Japan in 1979. This team became world champions!
He played alongside famous players like Diego Armando Maradona and Ramón Díaz. Osvaldo shared that he and Maradona were very good friends. They understood each other well on the field. He also got along great with Ramón Díaz, who was the top scorer in that tournament.
Playing for Top Clubs
After playing for Vélez Sársfield and returning to Chacarita Juniors, Osvaldo caught the eye of Boca Juniors. He joined Boca Juniors and played with Maradona again. Osvaldo has said that Maradona was the greatest player he ever saw.
With Boca Juniors, Osvaldo won the Metropolitano 1981 championship. He later played for other important Argentine clubs. These included Independiente, Rosario Central, and Racing Club.
Playing Abroad and Winning Titles
In 1991, Osvaldo went to play outside Argentina. He joined Barcelona SC in Ecuador. He helped them win the Serie A championship in just six months.
After Ecuador, he played in Japan for Mitsubishi Motors. He finished his playing career back in Argentina. His younger brother, Sergio Escudero, also became a football player.
Osvaldo Escudero's Coaching Journey
After retiring as a player, Osvaldo didn't plan to become a coach. He had other businesses in Argentina. However, his friend Jaime Rodríguez encouraged him to try coaching.
Starting in El Salvador
In June 2012, Osvaldo became the new coach for Santa Tecla FC in El Salvador's First Division. He admitted that coaching was challenging for him at first. He was a quiet person, but a coach needs to talk a lot and share ideas. He learned by coaching veteran teams in Argentina.
Osvaldo left Santa Tecla FC in October 2012 due to disagreements with his assistant coach. However, he returned to the club later.
Winning as a Coach
His second time coaching Santa Tecla FC was very successful. He became the first coach to lead the team to a championship title. This was the Clausura 2015 tournament. This win meant the team would play in the CONCACAF Champions League.
Osvaldo knew his team would face stronger opponents in the Champions League. But his main goal was for his team to play well and show their best. He wanted them to represent national football with pride.
Later Coaching Roles
Osvaldo continued his coaching career in El Salvador. He coached CD FAS from 2016 to 2017. He then managed CD Águila from 2017 to 2018. He had another short period with Santa Tecla FC in 2020. His most recent coaching role was with Atletico Marte from 2022 to 2023.
