Otto George Mitchell (born November 8, 1898 – died August 8, 1938) was an American baseball player. He was a second baseman who played in the Negro leagues during the 1930s. These leagues were very important for African American players at a time when they were not allowed to play in Major League Baseball.

Otto Mitchell's Baseball Journey

Otto Mitchell was born in Evansville, Indiana. He played professional baseball for the Birmingham Black Barons in 1930. The Black Barons were a well-known team in the Negro leagues.

During his time with the team, Otto Mitchell played in 17 recorded games. He showed his skills by getting 21 hits. He even hit one home run during his 74 times at bat.

Sadly, Otto Mitchell passed away in his hometown of Evansville in 1938. He was 39 years old. Even though his career was short, he was part of an important era in baseball history.
