Owain Daniel Doull (born 2 May 1993) is a Welsh cyclist who competes in both road cycling and track cycling. He is known for his skills in the team pursuit on the track. Owain won a gold medal in this event at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. This made him the first Welsh-speaking athlete to win an Olympic gold medal! He currently rides for the UCI WorldTeam EF Education–EasyPost.

Early Life and Start in Cycling
Owain Doull was born and grew up in Cardiff, Wales. He went to Ysgol y Wern and Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf for school. When he was a child, he loved sports and played rugby. He started cycling when he was 14 years old with a club called Maindy Flyers.
In 2010, Owain was chosen for the British Cycling's Olympic Development Programme. This program helps young cyclists become future Olympians. Other Welsh cyclists, Amy Roberts and Elinor Barker, were also part of this program.
Commonwealth Youth Games
In 2011, Owain competed in the Commonwealth Youth Games on the Isle of Man. He won two medals there:
- a silver medal in the Men's road race
- a bronze medal with Dan Pearson in the Men's team road race
After finishing the Olympic Development Programme in 2012, Owain joined the British Cycling Academy Programme. This was another step towards becoming a professional cyclist.
Becoming a Professional Cyclist
Owain's first big competition for Great Britain was the 2013 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Minsk. He finished fifth in the Scratch race. Soon after, he won his first medal at the 2013 UEC European Track Championships in Apeldoorn. He was part of the team pursuit that won gold with Steven Burke, Ed Clancy, and Andy Tennant.
He continued his success by winning gold in the team pursuit at the 2013–14 UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester. In December 2013, he won two more medals in Mexico. He got a bronze in the team pursuit and his first individual gold medal in the scratch race.
Owain became a professional road cyclist in 2014 with An Post–Chain Reaction. He also represented Wales at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow that year.
In 2015, Owain joined the new WIGGINS team. This team was started by famous cyclist Bradley Wiggins. Its goal was to help British riders get ready for the team pursuit at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In September 2015, Owain finished third overall in the 2015 Tour of Britain. He also won the points classification in that race.
In 2016, it was announced that Owain would join Team Sky (now Ineos Grenadiers) from 2017. He also rode for them as a trainee (stagiaire) for the rest of 2016.
Olympic Gold and Beyond
Owain Doull achieved his biggest success at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He won a gold medal in the men's team pursuit event. This was a huge achievement for him and his team.
For his services to cycling, Owain was given the title of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2017. This is a special award from the British Queen.
He started his 2018 season by competing in the 2018 Tour Down Under. In August 2019, he was part of the team for the 2019 Vuelta a España, which is one of the biggest road cycling races in the world.
