Serving in the Irish Parliament
First, he was elected as a Member of Parliament for Sligo Borough in the Parliament of Ireland. He served two terms there: from 1776 to 1790, and again from 1791 to 1800. This parliament made laws specifically for Ireland.
Joining the UK Parliament
A big change happened in 1800 with the Act of Union. This law joined Ireland with Great Britain, creating the United Kingdom. After this, Owen Wynne became an MP in the new UK Parliament. He represented Sligo from 1801 to 1806.
Leaving and Returning to Parliament
To leave his seat in Parliament, Owen Wynne took on a special job called the Escheator of Munster. This was a way for MPs to officially resign their position. Many years later, he returned to politics. He served as an MP for Sligo Borough again from 1820 to 1830.

Family Life and Legacy
Owen Wynne passed away in 1841. He was married to Lady Sarah Elizabeth Cole. Her father was William Cole, 1st Earl of Enniskillen, a very important noble. Owen and Lady Sarah had six children together: two sons and four daughters.
His eldest son, John Arthur Wynne (1801–1865), inherited the family's home, Hazelwood. John Arthur also followed in his father's footsteps and became an MP for Sligo Borough. One of Owen's daughters, Sarah, married Edward Joshua Cooper of Markree Castle, another significant family in Ireland.
