Owl Ranch-Amargosa was a small community in Jim Wells County, Texas, United States. It was known as a census-designated place (CDP). A CDP is a special area that the government counts for population, but it's not a city or town with its own local government.
In the year 2000, about 527 people lived there. Many people in the area called it "Tecolote." This is a Spanish word that means "owl."
Later, for the 2010 population count, Owl Ranch-Amargosa was divided. It became two separate CDPs: Owl Ranch and Amargosa.
