Pablo García Baena (born June 29, 1921 – died January 14, 2018) was a famous Spanish poet. He was born and grew up in Córdoba, a city in Spain. Pablo García Baena wrote many poems and was known for his beautiful words.

Who Was Pablo García Baena?

In 1947, Pablo García Baena started a special group called Cántico. He created this group with his friends who were also writers and artists. Some of his friends in the group were Ricardo Molina, Juan Bernier, Julio Aumente, and Mario López. Two painters, Miguel del Moral and Ginés Liébana, were also part of this creative team. They all worked together to share their art and ideas.

Pablo García Baena wrote and published more than twelve collections of poems. People really liked his work and praised it a lot. He won a very important award called the Asturias Prize in 1984. This award is one of the highest honors for writers in Spain.

He also received many other special recognitions. For example, his hometown of Córdoba called him a "Favoured Son." His home region of Andalusia also gave him this honor. Since the 1960s, he lived in Málaga province, another part of Spain. He often wrote for Spanish newspapers and magazines. He also gave many talks about his poetry.
