The Story of Pacers
From Opal Mints to Pacers
Before they were called Pacers, these mints had a different name: Opal Mints. They were plain white, chewy, and tasted like spearmint. Opal Mints were launched as a "sister" candy to Opal Fruits, which you might know today as Starburst!
Around 1976, the candy was relaunched and given the new name, Pacers. Later, they added three cool green stripes to each mint. These stripes were peppermint flavored.
Pacers on TV
The TV ads for Pacers often showed people doing sports and being active. The people in the ads wore green and white striped outfits, just like the mints! Their slogan was "Peppermint striped for two-mint freshness."
When Pacers Disappeared
Sadly, Pacers mints stopped being made in 1985. Many people still remember them today!
A Fun Fact About Pacers
