Pacers was a popular type of mint candy from the UK. It was made by a company called Mars. These chewy mints were known for their fresh taste and unique look.

Pacers started out with a different name: Opal Mints. They were plain white and tasted like spearmint. They were like a sibling product to another candy called Opal Fruits, which you might know today as Starburst.

How Pacers Changed Over Time

Around 1976, the candy was given a new name, "Pacers." Later, something new was added to the mints: three green stripes! These stripes were made of peppermint. This change might have been to make them look like a similar candy in America.

TV Ads and Slogans

The TV commercials for Pacers often showed people doing sports and being active. The people in the ads wore green and white striped clothes, just like the candy! The famous slogan for Pacers was "Peppermint striped for two-mint freshness." This slogan highlighted the fresh taste of the mints.

When Pacers Disappeared

Sadly, Pacers mints were stopped being made in 1985. So, you won't find them in stores today.

A Football Team's Nickname

For a while, the Glasgow Celtic football team was sometimes called "The Pacers." This was because their team uniform looked a lot like the green and white stripes on the mints!
