Pacific Islands Rugby Alliance facts for kids
The Pacific Islands Rugby Alliance (PIRA) was a special group formed in 2002. It brought together the rugby unions from several Pacific Island nations. These included Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga. Later, Niue and the Cook Islands also joined this alliance.
The main goal of PIRA was to help these countries work together in rugby. They wanted to create a strong team called the Pacific Islanders. This team would include players from all the member nations. It allowed players from smaller islands to compete at a higher level.
