Painter Creek, Ohio facts for kids
Painter Creek is a small place in Darke County, Ohio, in the U.S. state of Ohio. It's called an unincorporated community, which means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
A Look Back at Painter Creek's History
Painter Creek was officially planned out in 1870. This means its streets and lots were mapped for people to build on. The community got its name from a nearby stream, also called Painter Creek.
A post office opened here in 1852. It helped people send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for many years, closing in 1903.
Besides the post office, Painter Creek also had other important buildings. There was a factory that made tiles, likely for building. A schoolhouse taught local children. And a town hall served as a meeting place for the community.
