C. M. Pappukutty Bhagavathar (born March 29, 1913 – died June 22, 2020) was a famous Indian singer and actor. He was well-known for his work in Malayalam cinema, which are movies made in the Malayalam language.
About His Life
Pappukutty Bhagavathar was born on March 29, 1913, in Vypin, Kochi, Kerala. He was the second of five children. His parents were Michael and Anna.
He had two brothers, Daniel and Varghese, and two sisters, Rosy and Valsala. He went to the Government boys school in Vypin.
Pappukutty Bhagavathar had a very long career. In 2009, when he was 95 years old, he sang a song for the movie Marykkundoru Kunjadu. This was 60 years after his very first movie song! This made him the oldest Malayali person to sing in a film. The song, "Entadukke Varum," became very popular.
He was married to Baby, and they had five children together. His children include the actor Mohan Jose and the singer Selma George. His son-in-law, K. G. George, is also a well-known Malayalam movie director.
Pappukutty Bhagavathar turned 100 years old in March 2013. His wife, Baby, passed away in 2017. He lived a very long life, passing away in Kochi in June 2020 at the age of 107. He died due to illnesses that often come with old age.
