Park Michigan was a very tall building planned for Chicago, Illinois. It was going to be 80 stories high. The company Pappageorge/Haymes, Ltd. designed this huge skyscraper.
The building was meant to be built on a parking lot. This lot is located at the corner of Wabash Avenue and 9th Street. As part of the plan, an old YWCA building nearby would have been changed. It was going to become a new restaurant. The YWCA building's address was 830 South Michigan Avenue. This was also the official address for Park Michigan.
What Happened to Park Michigan?
Park Michigan was never built. The project faced problems with money. In 2007, the company planning the building, Renaissant Development Group, had trouble paying back a loan.
Why the Project Stopped
Because of the money problems, a company called Hermes Capital LLC took legal action. They had lent money for the project. On February 15, 2008, they started a lawsuit. This lawsuit was about getting their money back.
Hermes Capital LLC is run by Demetris Giannoulias. He is the brother of Alexi Giannoulias. Due to these financial issues, the plans for Park Michigan stopped. It remains an "unbuilt" skyscraper.
