The Park Plaza Apartments is a famous building in the Bronx, New York City. It was one of the first and most important apartment buildings built in the Art Deco style in the area. This eight-story building stands at 1005 Jerome Avenue. It was designed by architects Horace Ginsberg and Marvin Fine. The building was finished in 1931.
The outside of the building is decorated with colorful terra cotta designs. It has five main sections, each with six wide window areas. Inside, there are about 200 apartments. These apartments range in size from one to five rooms.

A Special Landmark Building
The Park Plaza Apartments are considered very special. In 1981, it was officially named a New York City Landmark. This means it's an important historical place that needs to be protected.
Listed on the National Register
The building was also added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. This is a list of places across the United States that are important to history. Being on this list helps protect the building for future generations.
Location and Changes Over Time
For many years, the Park Plaza Apartments looked out onto Macombs Dam Park. This park was a large, green space with many trees. It was about 28-acre (110,000 m2) in size.
New Yankee Stadium
However, in 2006, the park changed. It was decided that the land would be used for a new Yankee Stadium. This meant the park was removed to make way for the famous baseball stadium.
